Why do my Khaki pants have bleached spots all over them after I wash them?

Every pair of Khaki pants I have, after I wash them, they appear to be bleached out. You usually cannot see this until outside in the natural light. I'm so frustrated.

Overtime, the dye that is used to make khaki pants aren't stable enough to handle the  ingredients in laundry pre-treaters and detergents.  Many detergents contain optical brighteners that absorb ultraviolet light and reflects visible blue light to make your clothing appear whiter and brighter.  In your situation, the bleached spots are most likely the residue from the optical brighteners and when you go outside, the sunlight is being absorbed and what is reflected are the spots.  Most of the laundry detergents on the market have optical brighteners, however, there are some out there that don't, like Seventh Generation.

perhaps they rubbed up on some bleach before you washed them by accident. that's what used to happen to me in college. people would use bleach and then there would be some liquid or powder bleach all over the place and it would get on my clothes. only time i EVER had this kinda problem!
