Why so much paperwork in the medical profession? At every doctor's office I've visited in the U.S., there have been about twenty or thirty people working on paperwork for every one who is actually providing medical care.

We only have two in our office doing the paperwork. The new patient information sheets are 2 pages (general information and medical history), and 2 short forms that require only signatures, and a copy of the insurance cards. When the patient leaves, they get a discharge sheet. There is also another sheet for each visit that has the information from the visit. They are several of them, but they are geared toward what their medical problem is. For billing, we have a superbill, an extra copy of the insurance cards, and a copy of their general information sheet to give to our billing company.
