I'm pregnant and even though the CDC strongly recommends it my OB/GYN has told me he doesn't think it's necessary. I was offered the shot for free but refused it even before discussing it with my doctor as it's recently been reported that millions of pregnant women have been given the shot but testing for long-terms effects has just begun. It doesn't sound all that safe. God bless those who have faith in doctors and researchers and are getting the shot but I'm going to pass on it.

i am currently a "swine" victim, and i can tell you that this flu isn't all that bad. it is like the normal flu....in fact i think it is the normal flu with added pressures. Everyone is panicking over something that has only killed a handful of people. and those who were killed didn't die from the flu but a bacterial infection that was piggybacking on with the flu. Even if i hadn't gotten the flu, i wasn't going to take the shot. i think it is best to allow your body to encounter things and fight it by itself. it strengthens your immune system more than a weakened bacteria would in my opinion.

My Cousin got the swine flu and she almost died aged 33. I had the shot 3 weeks ago. NOT a problem.. As I said in a previous post it's your choice and your choice only. We ALL have to live with our conscious if we give it to someone else when it could have been prevented..

My son and I will get the shot, but that is only because he is very thin like his dad and I will get it to show him that there is nothing to be afraid of.

I think the whole swine flu paranoia is just that...paranoia.

My employer just announced this week that it is mandatory that all employees get the shot. There was alot of angry folks, some out of concern of safety, and others simply because of lack of choice concerning our own health in the matter.
At my age, I will take it because I need my job and I really don't care what it will do to my body.
But if the schools start telling me I have to give it to my daughters, THAT will cause this father to rebel. I will make the choice for my daughters, NOT the government.

We're skipping the shot. My 10 year was diagnosed with H1N1 and was home from school for a week, and a little worse than usual when he has the flu, but not a lot worse. AND while all his friends got sick, my other kids and I did not. Most people don't seem to become extremely ill with it, although there are always the frightening exceptions.

I don't plan to get it - I have heard stories from people who got the regular flu vaccine of how they got very sick with flu symptoms about a week afterwards, so I don't plan to get the H1N1 either.

My Sister-In-Law is a nurse......
I asked her this question, and for various reasons, she will not be getting the vaccine for herself or her children.
She feels that the regular flu vaccine is worthwile.
She thinks that there are too many questions surrounding the H1N1 vaccine..............

No. I had decided not to get it then came down with flu anyway. In my area they aren't even offering a separate swine flu test so chances are good I already had the swine flu. I feel that it hasn't been tested enough to be absolutely safe. It was hurry up and rush this vaccine out to the general population, without thorough testing.

Not worried about it. I take care of myself...wash my hands really good and althought I'm apart of one of the high risk groups I'm not getting the shot. I've never gotten a flu shot ever and I've never had a knock you down flu. I think people are running scared for really no reason. If you get sick go to the doctor they can determine right away if its h1n1.
