WHICH WOULD YOU CHOOSE?

Suppose you were given two choices:

1) You could have a job that pays a million bucks a year, BUT...your work has absolutely NO impact of any kind upon anybody.

OR...

2) You were to discover a cure for Type-1 Diabetes, BUT...earn only enough money to pay your living expenses, and maybe have a little spending cash left over.

Which would you pick?

I would have to say that choosing #2 would be the better choice. Money can only buy so much, and I can't take it with me. But since I believe in God and heaven and all of that "after-life" stuff, then I would know where my true reward lie. So give unto Caesar what is Caesar's and give unto God what is God's. The cure could only be from God, so to trade it for the instant gratification of a new pair of shoes or the light bill being paid means that I have no Faith in my God to take care of the financial stuff for me. So, I would have to say choice #2 of course. And then I would rely on my God to take care of the rest, just like he always has and be glad that someone was able to benefit tremendously from me playing with a pea-trey dish. :)

#2

I already have a job that barely covers my expenses and leaves little left over. If it could cure diabetes that would be wonderful...considering my husband is diabetic

that`s a tough one. finding a cure for diabetes is important. it runs in my family. most of them died from complications from it.....but a million dollars would take care of a hell of a lot of bills. and then some......guess I`ll have to flip a coin.

the first one. whatever money i have left i will donate to diabetes research.

One please

I could have alot of impact in lots of people with that money

from basic needs to education, not that my money would cover all

cost but it could help to implement programs

And I would love to buy and fly an airplane:)

Number one...If I had a bunch of extra cash on me to spend, I'd donate some of it to a worthy cause and then I would have an impact on somebody.

Maybe I would start out with job #1 for a year, moonlight at job #2, get all my debts paid off, quit job #1 and work for job #2 knowing that financially I'll be stress free and that way if we hit another recession job #2 won't need to let me go because I could continue on without pay because financially speaking I won't be hurt by it.

You make the money. Making money will allow you to do just as much, if not more for those worthy causes you speak of. Your job does not define you and your worth. You define that. A job is a means to a way. It is not both.

2 because money is not everything.

I've always been someone who likes to make a difference and have an impact on other people's lives so I would definitely pick number two because it not only can save lives, but it can make a big difference...:D

I feel that if I took #2, that God would bless me abundantly for finding the cure for diabetes, plus I'd probably get invitatiosn to write books, be on talk shows, etc. that would bring in plenty of cash, maybe even more than a million! With that type of brain, I'd be in high demand!

- Response by experience101, A Thinker, Female, 46-55, Who Cares?

Well it's pretty obvious that if your work would impact nobody in the million dollar job, that's the one to take. You see, if the work impacts no one, no one would know if you weren't doing it. You could get paid the million dollars AND work on the diabetes cure at the same time.

#2. Money can't buy hapiness, and knowing I saved millions from massive pain suffering and death would make me happy.

number #1..because the money would go to me and I am important to myself..if type 1 diabetese doesn't kill u..believe me something else will..there's no cure for death..

I'd pick A. I get paid shit for having an impact at my job now and I'm sick of being poor. To hell with other people, I'm looking out for #1 on this question.

- Response by luckyinkentucky, A Cool Mom, Female, 26-28, Alternative Medicine

Any is OK! for me.
I would choose one and then discover the cure which will make the one million 10, if I have a good business plan: a book, article, and a contract with developing countries etc
I will choose two and make the millions if they give me a regular salary first.

I don't think there's too many jobs that are seriously high-paying yet truly worthless, because very few people are going to pay someone to be of no use to them. But I'll take the bait.

I would go for the second option. I don't need a lot of luxury, and think it's rather silly to consider it an important goal in life.

The most logical thing to do, in my opinion, is spend a year doing the worthless job and then go on to cure Type-1 Diabetes, not for the sake of luxury but so that I know I've always got money to fall back on, but that's not one of the options, so I'll stick with option 2.

I already have a job more similar to #2, as in having an impact on others. I teach. I've had a few successful students come back to visit and to thank me. That's my million bucks.
So this is an easy choice. 2.
