Buses are stupid, especially in smaller towns. No one rides the bus anymore, what like 3 people all day. Those lazy asses need to learn to drive themselves. Buses are a waste of money and time. I see buses going by in my town all the time and there is rarely anyone in them. Why do we still have them, you would think by now people would of realized they are pointless and stupid. - Asked by Male, 18-21 |

I live in a very small hamlet and to be honest, there is no buses around here because the place is too small but I think if there was one, many people would use it because the nearest town is 35 miles away and most of the people who live in the hamlet have to pay someone to take them into town...if you're in a small town as well, I have to agree that buses would be pointless, especially if the stores, cafes, etc were within walking distance and buses weren't needed...:D

Only pointless stupid people would say something like that. People have to take the bus that can't afford to have a car, or who cannot drive for medical reasons, or whose car has been stolen, towed or is down for repairs. Just because YOU have the money for a car doesn't mean everyone does - especially in this economy. Damn you youngsters are some of the most judgmental, non-tolerant little farts. Grow up why don't you and realize that there is a big world out there and most people are not like you.

In small towns buses aren't worth the costs to run and maintain but a lot of poor people can't afford to buy a car. It doesn't matter if those lazy asses know how to drive, they need money to get and maintain a car.

I took the bus every day when I was in college. My first car broke down so many times I gained a LOT of experience riding the bus. Not everyone can own or operate a car, which is why public transport is necessary.

I don't have a car because I don't see the need to add another vehicle to the road, and cause more pollution and traffic, I walk anywhere that is within feasible walking distance, and take the bus or use a taxi at other times, I look at people who ride the bus as helping with enviromental problems, not as lazy.

I know this may be difficult for you teenage brain to understand. Bear with me. Not everyone can drive!!! Who do you usuallly see on the bus? Elderly poeple, kids going to school, people who don't have a drivers liscence (for various reasons, including perhaps a disability). How is an 85 year old woman with a walker supposed to get around? ARe you going to go to her house and give her a lift? It's a public service. We don't have many fires in my area, but we still have a fire dept.

If you are truly the age listed on your profile, then your question is answered. It is likely the only reason ridership is low is the buses still do not run in the areas that truly need them. Buses can save you money on gas, wear and tear on your vehicle and cut down the number of vehicles on the road.

Wow. You haven't been watching the news lately have you. Public transportation cut's pollution. Buses frequently run on natural gas which has minimal pollution.

Maybe in smaller centres buses are pointless but for bigger centres a lot of people ride the bus. They are not a waste of time or money. I guess you would rather have 50 more cars at a time polluting the environment at a time then having 50 people riding in one vehicles.

First of all until you know exactly why people use them maybe you shouldn't knock it. Maybe they are unable to drive, maybe they lost jobs and can't afford car payments. Maybe once spouse died who always drove. Maybe they have lost their license. Don't be so quick to judge and think you know why people do what they do, because trust me one day you may need the very service you are complaining about.

buses are for poor people, or people who dont mind using slower, cheaper transportation to get where they're going. also, a lot of old people cannot drive and need the bus. not everyone can afford a car and the gas to move it. think about peoples' situations besides yourself.
