WHICH WOULD YOU CHOOSE?

Suppose you were given two choices:

1) You could have a job that pays a million bucks a year, BUT...your work has absolutely NO impact of any kind upon anybody.

OR...

2) You were to discover a cure for Type-1 Diabetes, BUT...earn only enough money to pay your living expenses, and maybe have a little spending cash left over.

Which would you pick?

Do "you" ask or tell?

Last week I had to go the hospital and have a yearly scan done to ensure that my cancer is still in remission. I told my boss about it well in advance and then reminded her two days prior to my appointment. She had a duck fit because I "told" her I was going to my appointment rather then "asking" her if I could. WTF? Meanwhile she "tells" me Monday morning that she's taking the rest of the week off to prepare for her daughter's wedding. That just irks me when someone does something the same way I've done it but yet has the nerve to respond to me like I've done something wrong. Ughh.

Idiot Co-worker help needed!!

I use to be friends with a loser (felt sorry for him as no one talked to him, now I know why...)So after he made 2 other buddies, he started bad mouthing me to everyone. Fine, but now his new thing is to STARE at me. We work in a store and this is getting to a point where I want to quit. He does it to my girl friends there too. He is trying to intimidate us of course. He got the job cuz his dad works for the company in another store...I need to deal with this on my own--so come one give me some good or nasty advice!

Update: November 06, 2009.
Joybird reminded me of the cameras....everywhere. I am going to write "I want ______ to quit staring at me and the other women here, in big letters on a piece of paper and lay it on my work area for the camera to see tomorrow!!

When a company makes a diciplinary action upon an employee......

How much time is typically given for correction before termination?

Update: November 06, 2009.
I was given exactly one week to not make more then a 2% error on my work and NOT call into work. I have missed 2 days of work in 90 days from being in the hospital. I've NEVER been on any corrective/diciplinary action in my life!

Let's say this is your job ...

You sit at a desk all day and do next to nothing but the job is secure and the pay is decent.

Could you do this every day and for how long?

If not, why?

P.S. Your internet access is limited (i.e. most of the websites you would like to visit are blocked) ...

Update: November 06, 2009.
Funny, I don't remember asking what *I* should do. In fact, I don't even remember saying this was my situation. Thanks to those who actually answered the question ... "Could you personally do this job"?

Invited a co-worker to a birthday party

A few of my co-workers are having a birthday party for one of the secretaries at work. I asked another secretary if she wanted to come. When I did she did not respond in any way, she sat there at her desk looking at me. I started feeling uncomfortable and I told her if she wanted to come, let me know. I then walked away.

In the past, if I invited someone to a social event people would either tell me they were coming or say they had already made plans and they couldn't come. I've never had anyone to sit and stare at me until I left.

I can't read her mind but do you think she simply did not want to attend and couldn't think of a good excuse of why she couldn't come?

Anybody know of a good legitimate....

I am a stay at home mom and now money is tight and I need to find a job. I don't have my license and could only work in the evenings after 7 and everything that is within walking distance closes at 10.
Do any of you know of a legitimate home business? Not a scam or a rip off.
Thanks
