Do you take the highway, or the steep rocky mountain trail???

What I mean by this is..do you intentionally set goals for yourself that will put you outside your normal pattern/comfort zone?

Do you tend to stick to the things you know you're good at, or do you welcome/create challenges for yourself to test your abilities.

I'm asking beause I find myself compelled to learn things that don't come naturally to me. I am not a "math" person. So what do I do? Take university calculus. I hate every minute of it, but there is nothing more satisfying thatn getting an A in a class that you had to work your bloody ass off to get.

I enjoy the challenge of doing things I know are NOT easy for me personally. I don't know if I'm just a masochist or what! I guess what I'm saying is I enjoy challenging my mind..to the extreme. It's not always a good thing. There are time I am up to 2 AM working on calculus or quantum chemistry. Not because I LOVE it so much, but because I crave the satisfaction I get from forcing myself to learn it.

Am I the only one?

It's like I punish myself...then feel good after...ugh

Getting a job as a makeup artist?

I'm going to cosmetology school soon and my hope is to be a makeup artist for the wwe, I know it's probably a long shot since there aren't many openings, but it's my hope. My question is, how do you apply for something like that? Is there a certain place where their located and you go there or do they scout out good people and just kind of find you?
Maybe I'm just stupid for not understanding it, but I don't.

What social situations tend to make you the most discombobulated and nervous?

Me - Staff meetings...for some reason I tend to zap out and have no tact when it comes to the "bitch session." I'm the jackass that always ends up saying what everyone else is thinking.

Lord, please help me. I've got to do better!

Don't misunderstand me...

I want more than anyone for this war to end and bring our troops home, but I do wonder where would some of them work. Even though their company has to put them back on their payroll would that mean workers would lose their job?

i need career advice.. can you have more than one career?

I know i either want to be a teacher, phychologist or a social worker.. i just cant decide. I know you're supposed to go with your passion, and what you enjoy doing, and i'd enjoy all of those careers i just cant decide. However, i'm kinda leaning more towards being a pychologist. But being a social worker also appeals to me. I love helping people anyway i can. I cant do both can i?

Presentation in public

I held a presentation at my new job. I thought it went ok, with minor problems. The boss was also happy.

A colleague however, privately gave me some feedback and I think she's right, but I'm not sure what I can do about it.

She said I was very loud (heck, I'm a teacher at origins...) and that "your presence filled the room". She felt threatened, she felt I was aggressive.

She was unable to give me info on how to change that. I did not move around practically at all and my gestures were not too much (as she said). She thought I was very confident and convincing.

But it's not the first time I hear about being aggressive (somebody else thought that, too). Does anyone have any suggestions how I can minimize that? If I cause my audience to become defensive, it's not good.
