Why haven't I become addicted? I started smoking about 5 years ago and absoultely love it.

However I have yet to become addicted. I will go from smoking a pack a day for a month straight to not smoking for over 2 weeks. What is wrong with me? Everyone else gets urges where the just have to smoke whereas I treat it as a hobby that is done for fun but is not required. Why is it like this?

I just had my third session of vascular laser surgery on my face today.

I have some big purplish bruises on my nose and cheek. I HAVE to go to work tomorrow. They were very reluctant to give me today off for the procedure. The procedure also causes some swelling, and headache and I am on Prednisone for a couple of days.

So, I just found out we have a staff meeting tomorrow. I really can't call in sick, that would be pushing it. I know it won't cover with make up. I have it on now, and still a mess. All I can think of is smile and say "you should see the other guy". Or at the very least, just keep my head up and act confident, and give no explaination.

Any ideas?

How do I lose the weight I gained since I quit smoking?

Four years ago I quit smoking and since that time I've gained almost 80 pounds. I can't seem to rid myself of the constant craving for food.I knew when I quit that I'd gain a little weight but this is ridiculous! I exercise regularly but it hasn't helped.

O Negative Mothers...

Could an O-mother miscarry because her baby is not O-?

I'm not sure about this whole process. You have to get some sort of shot for this, right? Do you need it every time you are pregnant or does it depend?

Why do I feel so tired all the time every time?

At first I thought I had low iron. I donated blood the other weekend and though my iron just barely passed 12.5 hgb, it still passed. As far as I know, my iron is stable. I am so tired! I've tried drinking coffee and it doesn't help. Hours after getting up, I still feel as though I've just rolled out of bed. Somedays, my body feels strained as though I ran 5 mile the day before. Could it all be from the stress of my finals coming up? I don't drink often (we're talking weeks at a time) at all and have never done drugs or smoked.

Any thoughts are welcome and appreciated.

The Santa Factor...

Should Santas be included in the high risk for H1N1 group?

It seems logical to me that since they have a high exposure to a high risk group they should.

Update: November 18, 2009.
Imagine an infected Santa? Who is in line to see him except kids, mothers, and expecting mothers. We could end up with Swine Flu Santa like Typhoid Mary. Swine Flu Santa sounds like a good Stephen King character.
