Got to give praise to people who have figured "it" out

After 6 months of being in agony, watching bubbling medical professionals give contradictory advice in the same breathe. Wishing more times I can count that I was dead - I have to say the arabs (islam) do have it fifured correctly in their view of God.

We say "God is merciful"

They say "God be merciful"

They have it correct - God has absolutely no love for the human race - that God will make each and every human suffer until he or she dies.

It's not the human race that have sinned - God has more than shown - he has sinned against us!

Give the gift that REALLY helps...

I hear a lot of "pray for so and so" and "pray for me" and "I'll pray for you". Well since Harvard University has proven that praying for someone does NOTHING...let's set new rules.

The next time someone asks for your prayers, ask them why. Encourage them to share their story, their grief, their frustration. Then, if there is a tangible way you can help, do so. When my best friend broke her ankle and couldn't work for 3 months, I didn't pray for her recovery. I gave her 500$ to help with the bills she was having a hard time covering because her insurance was only a fraction of her working income.

When a woman asked me to pray for her daugther who was having a surgical birth that morning, I instead went and copied some good info I had on C-section recovery and gave it to the mom to give to the daugther.

Instead of praying for the hungry people of the world, I go through my cupboards and give food to the food bank.

If a kind ACT was performed in place of every single prayer, the world would change dramatically.

Update: November 18, 2009.
Since so many people are convinced that prayer DOES work, why not make a compromise. NO prayers are to be said unless they are also accompanied by an act. Basically you have to pay for the prayer with a deed. That way religious folks can fufull their prayer needs/obligations, and the acts that accompany them change the world.

Well Looky Here!!!

Washington (CNN) -- The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office has estimated that the Senate health care bill would cost $849 billion over 10 years, according to a senior Democratic source and an administration official.

The office projects that the measure would reduce deficit by $127 billion and insure an additional 31 million Americans, according to the sources.

Ninety-four percent of Americans would be covered under the bill, the sources noted.

The news came as Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nevada, met behind closed doors with Senate Democrats to unveil the bill before a news conference later Wednesday.

Reid needs to round up 60 votes in the 100-member Senate to overcome a certain GOP filibuster attempt and open the chamber's debate on the bill.

So the price dropped and it will actually REDUCE the deficit.

Will wonders never cease?

I wonder what His Royal Lowness Joe Lieberman will do to try and torpedo this version?

So do you think they'll get all the ducks to stand in a row?

Bilingual Barack...

If our President could be fluent in one language besides English which one should it be?

You can pick two if you like. One for internal and one for external use.

She Must Be Crushed...

(CNN) - Hundreds of thousands of people are expected to buy Sarah Palin's just-released memoir, but don't count President Obama among them.

In an interview with CNN's Ed Henry in China, the president acknowledged Wednesday he would not be reading the highly-anticipated memoir by his potential 2012 opponent.

"I probably won't, but I don't get a chance to read things other than briefing books very often these days anyway," he said.

Obama also suggested he views the former Alaska governor as a credible candidate should she decide to seek the presidency in a couple of years.

"You know, she obviously has a big constituency in the Republican Party," he said. "You know, there a lot of people who are excited by her."

Do you ever play Texas Hold 'Em?

Do you know that feeling when you're holding a full house and you're just praying the guy with the big pile of chips is holding a flush so he'll go all in?

Do you think Obama would welcome Caribou Barbi as his opponent in 2012?

Who Is Our Caesar?

What did Jesus actually mean when he said "Render unto Caesar what is his?"

As one of our esteemed members pointed out. Doesn't that mean pay your taxes? That Caesar, as the government, has a right to a portion of your property in exchange for peace, security and the rule of law?

What Would Roosevelt Do?

What do you think of the Civilian Conservation Corps and the Works Projects Administration? Were they successful in keeping working men employed and their families fed? Did they succeed in ending the Great Depression? Or was our entrance into World War Two what really ended it?

Do you think we should revive the CCC and the WPA?

What does it mean to be your brother's keeper?
